Oops - almost forgot! Sorry about that!

I thought that perhaps this month we could try a bit of a theme ... so I came up with "Right Place, Right Time" ... lets see some of those shots where you just happened to have a camera handy for one of those rare moments in life, whatever they might be. So no limit on when it was taken for once

OK, I go first since I have been on vacation for a long time.

In this picture, although he is the one who threw the ball, it looks like he is being hit by it. I may have not pressed the button exactly at that right moment, but I was there...

OK then -- looks like I'm 2nd!

I've always wanted to capture a nice - COMPLETE - rainbow, but they always alluded me - until mothers day last year when I was lucky enough to get not just a complete rainbow, but a complete DOUBLE rainbow.

This shot was run in the local paper, and I had quite a few people ring up wanting copies. One lady said that several years ago her son died on this very day - and every year since there's been a rainbow on the anniversay of his death - not sure if that'll happen this time around, but all I can say is it's a couple of days away (I think!) - and we're forecast to have some VERY nasty weather this weekend - so here's hoping that the legend will hold true for one more year.

I was actually looking for a picture like this to ask a question I had: How did you overcome the wide dynamic range here? When I take a picture like this, assuming you did not use HDR being so natural looking and also the fact that you mentioned it was handheld which I think makes it unlikely, the sky usually looks wiped out.

Canon 400d, glass sigma 10-20mm, shoot in RAW.The wide dynamic range look adjusted with the RAW format.No next to nothing about PP but learning from info provided from here. :-)

P.S. I only have the uncropped photo to hand... We actually cropped it much tighter into a 10"x8" and have it on the wall at home... I quite like the light above my son in the uncropped version, too...
