A really blaahh picture - I decided a rescue attempt.
Way out of my comfort zone: I used Kelby's Channel book and followed the instructions for IR conversion step-by-step.
Result:
Opened a duplicate layer in TiffenDX and used infrared preset - slight improvement after a little playing with the sliders.
Opened this layer in Silver FX and tweeked the settings until the dogwood tree started to stand out from the back drop.
This is what I finally ended up with.
