Re: Funny looking bug
I think I would crop a little tighter, Tobias, so as to show more detail of the bug. Maybe even try a different ratio like 5 x 4 crop for example.
Not quite sure what species but possibly a Leafhopper or Planthopper. (Homoptera or Cicadellidae family)

Re: Funny looking bug
Too small to tell what it is and the dof is way to thin to bring out the details in the wings.
But overall a nice shot - looks like a goldfish.

Re: Funny looking bug
Thanks guys, the back looks like a leaf, very thin and with some Veins running through it

I agree with the tighter crop. What settings and type of lens did you use for this photo? I'm just curious because as Bobo pointed out, the DoF is quite thin and I'm wondering if you could have got a bit more detail by stopping down on your aperture.

Re: Funny looking bug
I used a canon 350d with a 100mm macro lens, I could have gotten the DOF better but I was kind of climbing around in a tree squeezing through branches and stuff and by the time I checked the picture the critter had decided to evade me

Ah yes - the little critters never make it easy for us, do they?

Indeed, they can never sit and pose nicely for us
