Never seen one of those before but it looks very regal with that pose. Are you able to crop tighter or are you maxed out on resolution?

That's a new animal in my book as well. Is it related to a beaver? Looks a bit like that. The texture and tone of the fur and on the rock go well together. Agree with Mal - if you could get in a bit tighter.

It's a good shot Jack, those guys don't stay in view long, unless of course you happen to be somewhere where people have been feeding them. I believe they are more closely related to the ground squirel. Some parts of the country they are shot as pests and it is unlikely you get within 200yrds of them.
While a good shot....it would be better if the out of focus bit were not there.

Thanks for the comments everyone, this is actually a yellow-belled marmot, aka rock chuck, related to ground squirrel.
