Boats work to, great shot, interesting edit. I would like to see the original.

I've been busy and haven't had time to visit CIC for a while. Good to see a thread with lots of great car shots. I started shooting cars a couple years ago. I'm not really a car buff but I like to shoot vintage things. I find interesting cars at car shows but they are in a lousy location for a good shot so I'll often extract the car and put it in a digital scene as below. I find it's often helpful to shoot cars in HDR because they tend to have a significant dynamic range from dark to shiny. I use these images to put on mugs and cards, etc. on my Zazzle site and sell some that way. In any event, here's an HDR 41 Pontiac.

Wonderful shots and treatments!

This was supposed to go under Loose Canon's post above
These are two of my babies... Be kind, this was a phone photo taken before I "took up" photography.
Another from the same day... about four years ago now.
I had decided a couple of weeks ago that I needed to start taking photos of my bike. So I was searching to see if there were any pointers here on CiC on lighting, reducing reflections and any other tips when photographing bikes, cars and the like and came across this thread.
I don't have any great photos of my bike and intend to rectify that over the next little while, so was looking for information. I've been on the lookout for some good landscape spots where I can take some photos with nice backdrops in natural light. But I've also been looking for tips on the close-ups as I always tend to struggle with too bright lights and reflections that I feel detract from the bike. Of course close-ups mean I'll need to wash her first
@ terry I really like what you have done grouping the cars and compositing them. That is a very effective technique. Out of curiosity the ratrod in the middle of the hot rods seems familiar to me, do you know the owner/builder?
@ Chuck here again I had not thought of taking a HDR shot and compiling it. Are you shooting a standard +3,0,-3? Or do you set up to capture specific details where they happen to be on the ev scale? Care to share your shot stitching technique?
@ Trace love the feel of that first shot. To me it says out with the old in with the new. Depending on the sun I will shoot with a GND filter, or a polarizer to cut down on reflections. But at the end of the day there are some reflections that cant be resolved. But I have found the more I shoot the more I pay attention to reflections. Sometimes it is worth stepping back and recomposing the shot just left or right of where you were going to shoot to minimize the reflections. Lastly sometimes reflections cant be helped but you can edit them in post. As to location, Motorcycles are icons for lone wolf, and I find unless it is a sports bike they can fit in to just about any location.
@ Steve those are some good shots, were they at a car show?
Just my 2 cents
Ryo
Trace - phone photo or not, I like the composition of #1
Jim did you ask the young man if his gas mask was in protest to the topfuelers burning octane at the track?
Last of the Sportster Pics:
I did notice something about bikes, and I guess it applies to cars as well. Details, its all about little details, not just the whole, though that is good too. But looking at little details, the chrome, the numbers, the badges.

Hi Ryo!Out of curiosity the ratrod in the middle of the hot rods seems familiar to me, do you know the owner/builder?
I don't know the owner/builder of that machine, but it has to be One of a Kind!
Nah! But I thought is was better than the AMC Gremlin avatar I drive!btw do you drive the car in your Avatar or just like the Viper Emblem?
I was at a local air show once. A fellow member of our aero club started up his gyrocopter - taxied out - and took off; not sure if you've all seen one take off, but to me they resemble a helicopter with the engine off being towed by a truck. Fellow standing next to me watched the whole thing and then turned to me and said @#$% that!
Cheers Ryo; they was all at museums.@ Steve those are some good shots, were they at a car show?
