Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
Now, that is quite a sky!
I think that's a nicely constructed image. The thing I wonder is what it was like 10/15 minutes earlier, before the sun actually came up over the horizon? The white ball of the sun does catch the eye a bit, but not so much that it overwhelms the image, as so often is the case.
Good bit of work, Edwin.

Yes, very nice Edwin. The mist adds an element of interest too.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
Very nice, I think the mist or low fog layer is what makes this for me. I also wonder what it was like just before the sum crested.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
I agree with all the well-deserved praise this picture has attracted.
If it were mine to play with, I would try to create a second picture from it by cutting the original in half and retaining only the left portion. That would give us three prominent round shapes, the two trees and the orb of the sun.
Just a thought in case you like playing around as much as I do.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
As suggested by you Wayne.........I had another play with this image, cropping it to retain the left hand side, hope you approve.
Cheers........Edwin.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
Since I am pretty hopeless at landscapes the only thing possible for me to say is Yay or Nay.
Yay to both.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
A fine sunrise Edwin. I personally prefer you first "letter box" version, which I feel is a more balanced and more dramatic scene.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
I do love the colors in this image, with the black silhouette foreground. I like the crop, except to me there is too much black in the foreground and makes the image bottom heavy. I would not mind seeing the crop a little heavier taking out the dead tree and some more of the foreground. I also see a possible image of just the right side of the image with the dead trees, no sun and the mist/fog and light colors sky.
It shows me how strong the overall image is, because there are many images within the one image.

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
I agree with Chris; I prefer the first ...
I did also wonder about a crop on the right with more mist and no sun, but (having tried it with browser zoom and position) it may, like teh other one on left, give too much prominence to the tall stumps.
Good capture though Edwin.
Cheers,

Re: "Sunrise/Stoney Creek"
Very nice. I prefer the first one too; the aspect seems to lend itself to the scene. Love the orange monochrome.
