Snow here in Toronto has been almost non-existent this winter. Snow in Rome but not in Toronto? Now that is weird!

Was out the other day looking for my usual birds and was hit suddenly by a pretty hard-blowing and heavy snow shower. Thought this was a wonderful opportunity to help improve my sucky landscapes so switched track and pulled up at a a nearby "scenic" location.

All I had with me was the zoom.

Nice series Bobo, I like them all and don't feel the need to pick a favoright. Nice winter time feel. I am starting to think that with the wide angle you may be just trying to put to much into a shot and thus the reason you have felt you had trouble with landscapes, because when you are limited you certainly seem to pull off some good comps.

Bobo, love all the photos!! I have a questions for you. When you are shooting in the snow how do you get the falling snow to look so good, when I shoot in the falling snow it looks more blurry than a softly falling snow -- not sure if this makes sense or not. Again love the shots

Love the series. Where I am there's no snow. A question about the first 3 photos, did you pp it to give the feel or that's how it looks when it snows?

This was only my 2nd time shooting in snowy conditions so not much of an expert.

My setting were f8 to get as much depth of field as possible and a high shutter speed of between 1/320-1/400 to try to catch the snow. I was using a zoom lens at the time if that matters at all.

There are many kinds of snow conditions from very heavy (almost cannot see anything) to very light. The size of the flakes also varies considerably. At times there would be strong winds or snow mixed with rain.

That particular day was just a sudden snow shower - intense but tiny pellets and lasted only 10-15 minutes.

The pics did get some pp to bring out the browns a bit and a bit of lightening.
