ACCEPTING ENTRIES: Monochrome Mini Competition #471

This is a monochrome-themed competition that is open to all CiC members.

ENTERING. Add your MONOCHROME/B&W image in a new post below. Make sure to change your post title to a name for your picture (click the "Go Advanced" button). Only one entry per person, and any tinted images should utilize no more than one color. For help posting images, go here.

VOTING. When this competition reaches 10 entries, a poll will be automatically added and any member may then vote. After 2 days, voting ends and the winner is determined.

Once voting begins, a new competition will be automatically started.

    Good luck!

Notes: Please do not request feedback or comment on other images until after voting has closed, as it could be unfair to other entrants. Photos must be your own, and never entered into one of our prior competitions. We also ask that only recently taken or edited photos be used as entries (in the spirit of motivating everyone to continually improve).

PS: Make sure to also vote on the previous competition here.

    Re: Cold Lake

Thank you for the votes, I'm glad the snow fence was appreciated. I knew I liked it but was not sure how it would go over.

Kevin: I love the "Pears" The setting is fantastic and the perfect place to try out other similar shots. My imagination runs wild, and I picture all kinds of harvest shots colour or b&w with different types of lighting. I just love what you have done with the composition and the tones and textures are wonderful to my eye. This shot is wonderful, but if this setting was on my property or easily accessible, I know I would have the tripod set up and be trying various subjects with various types of lighting. In this one, I"m wondering if a bit of light on the background wall or whatever it would take to separate the pears a bit more from the background would have made an already great shot a little better.

Joe: I love this shot also. There are so many textures here and it is such a lovely peaceful setting. What really strikes me is the way you have photographed it and the subtle tones and textures.Composition and lighting are also wonderful. It's another area where I think I would want to take many shots. I'm not so sure whether the border compliments the setting, but that's easily changed and totally a matter of personal preference.

Thanks Wendy. I kinda like it without the border too. I love your shot. Very nice composition and I really like how the shadows play in it. Very well done! I have to get back there again soon. It is a very nice place to shoot.

Congrats, Wendy and all the others. Wendy, love the shadows and blusteriness. (If that is even a word!) I think that must have been one of the tougher black and white competitions. Nate, yours seems to have just a touch of the extraterrestrial about it. Joe, what lovely lines in your architecture photo. Chris, that dock at night looks straight out of a 1950s suspense thriller! What atmosphere.

Outstanding shot, Wendy... I love it! Tough mini-comp... really like yours too, Chris, among a tough (i.e. excellent) field... These comps are really rolling..!
