Unprotecting/unlocking jpg files

I have a problem. All my jpg files are somehow locked or protected. I can't copy them to a memory stick or disc so that I can process them , for example to a printing shop. I can read then perfectly well on my own computer, but they won't travel! How do I unlock/unprotect them? The icon for each image is overlaid with a little red key symbol. Can anyone help?

there is a lock on your SD card. you might have accidentally tripped it while plugging it in a slot. try it
