I second Karl's suggestion. I own the 4th edition and have read it cover to cover twice already, and have gone back and reread sections from time to time. This is probably *the* best book to get you started on UW photography.

Excellent - thanks guys. Gotta love Kindle - it's now on my tablet for me to read.
The Big Blue lights arrived yesterday - The FF 3x5 is a lot smaller than I thought it would be - which is a good thing. I was expecting a massive lantern to lug along but it's actually very compact. The Olympus and underwater housing are on the way now - don't think I'm going to get a chance to take any photos for another fortnight though!
That's a blink of an eye... I'm currently looking at October...
I try and dive once a week - usually on Sat - but our conditions aren't the best here with vis only around the 4m (12 feet) mark at best so it is very challenging to get a good photo. But by diving and doing my photography in these conditions it is a very good learning ground for when I get into better conditions.
Anyway only 120 days until I am back in Tulamben Bali for a week of diving and photography
Karl
I don't think I've had a dive in better than 5m visibility (5 feet). The other guys keep telling me that we actually get better visibility around here but I'm beginning to think they're pulling my leg
Hoping to be in Fiji in September to do some diving and get some nice happy snaps
ok - seriously... stop... diving once a week? Now you're just rubbing it in!

Twice a fortnight counts as once a week, doesn't it?
Well, the camera and housing have arrived! I'm probably not going to get into the water for another fortnight now mind you but it will give me a chance to get used to the camera and the housing
