Same flowers, different shot both pretty much grabshots so it is all in the editing.

I do like this one much better. Being centered I think a slight tilt right or left may have given you what you feel is missing. You have done quite well though as it is difficult to make a flower shot appealing in B&W as we are so inclined to expect bright color. I really like the softness in the OOF bits.

Sorry one thing I neglected to mention. Have you tried to clone the stems were they run accross the pedals. I think it would be worth a go. Just the two bottom right.
