    Introductions- Praths

    Hi All

I am Praths ( short for Prathima) from South Africa- Johannesburg. I have always had a passion for "looking at creative photos", with much admiration and respect for the photographers.

I finally made the time to learn about photography and invest in my passion. I am an amateur, discovering daily how much there is to learn - it is overwhelming. I guess the most difficult part for me thus far is whether you simply have the inborn "creativity" or if it is something you can learn-.

I have a Cannon 5D Mark11, with a 24-105mm lenz, fixed 50mm lenz and a tripod and cable release. Photography is clearly an expensive exercise.

I hope to develop enough skill to be a professional some day ( sooner rather than later) and hopefully earn a living from this .

My interest is photo journalism - especially around poverty and healthcare issues ( big problem in Africa and the field that I have worked in for the past 15 years). The second is boudior photography. Finally- Art with photography ( special effects) etc.

Looking forward to meeting other budding photographers and seasoned professionals and looking at your pics and learning.

    Introductions- Praths

    Regards

Hi Praths and a warm welcome to CiC. Every one of us started out with exactly the same skill level in photography (none!) and has developed abilities in a huge variety of different areas, depending upon our interests.

You have a very fine camera and the passion so there is no limits to what you can achieve. Take your best pictures, post them and tell us what you like and don't like, what you'd like to improve, and a bit about your skill level in the area of current interest. We'll help you each step along the way. You may want to take a look at this post Bridge through silence as it might help in getting great feedback on the images you post.

Looking forward to seeing some of your pictures, Praths!
