Vienna calling!
Just wanted to introduce myself quickly.
Name's Alex, 37 years old, native to Hamburg, Germany but moved to Vienna, Austria about 20 years ago and never left ever since.
To put food on the table, I am a CCNA network engineer for Austria's largest internet provider.
I am pretty new to photography. Bought my first cam, a Canon 1000D (known as Rebel XS in some parts of the world) about half a year ago but since I am a techhead, I wanted something more gadgety pretty soon so I switched to a Sony a55 and am in love ever since.
I love the general debate culture here on this forum and I think I'll fit in pretty nicely.
If I do sound harsh sometimes, please bear in mind that English is not my native language and I am far from mastering it as well as I do German.
The tutorials and articles are what made me come here in the first place.
To me, it's the perfect mix of being in-depth, precise yet still understandable.
Compared to the probably most popular site with a similar focus, Digital Photography School, CiC is a godsend to me.
In case somebody wants to visit my photo blog, feel free to do so.

Don't expect uber fancy artsy stuff there - I sometimes aim at this but mostly, I take every day standard shots of beautiful Vienna.
By the way, I linked to this site on my page. I hope that's OK for everyone. In case somebody has objections, please let me know and I'll remove the link.

Re: Vienna calling!
Hello Alex and welcome to CiC. I'm very glad that you like what you see in the tutorials and here on the forum and that you have decided to 'sign-on'. Your command of written English is excellent. You convey your views very clearly.
Thank you too for putting a link to CiC on your own blog. I also have a link from my own website.
I hope you continue to enjoy being part of CiC and that we see many posts from you in the future.
So that everyone can see your name every time you make a post, you can go to 'Edit Profile' and enter it under 'Real Name'. It will then appear alongside all your posts in the same way as your location.
