Re: Learning from jeeperman
Jim, first...thank you, that is quite the compliment but it will take a bit more to make me blush.
lol Now....are you useing spot focus? I ask because it looks as if you got locked on to the foreground pine needles. In this shot you were obviously enjoying on of the random sun breaks we had today....as the light is quite harsh and you are a bit over exposed. What lens are you useing for your birds?

Re: Learning from jeeperman
Paul I was using my 70-200mm tel Sony. It was at 200mm and approx 75 ft. The sun appeared from nowhere.
yes it is overexposed isn't it. It was like one of those point and shoot moments, that bird was there only for an instant. I'll keep trying though. JimC

Re: Learning from jeeperman
Yes James, you said it well. we are all here to learn and I learn from all of you daily! No shame in that at all!
Jim, good lens to have. Have you thought about a teleconverter? Could get you to 400mm.
Birds sure don't stick around long but with a little longer lens you can sometimes not disturb them so quickly. I will be out chasing them Monday if the weather holds. It is not supposed to snow until evening. lol

Re: Learning from jeeperman
Just keep at it. You should see my first ever bird shot. At the very least one can tell that you have a robin. Mine was just one blurry mess.
One thing to do is go to some local pond/lake and practise on the ducks and gulls. You will know what to do in no time.
I started with gulls in carparks
