So I was fortunate to get a Camera upgrade last week, here is one of the first shots with my new and absolutely awesome 7D
C&C always welcome

Am very envious...7D!
Can I ask what lens you were using and what aperture? The colours are lovely and vivid but the focal point is very small in the centre of the flower leaving the majority of the pic OOF and the light bits in the background ( upper left of centre) distract the eye.
A stronger focal point would really help.
Looks loads better on flickr but backround still doesn't work.
100mm Macro lens, I agree about the background, really irritated me when I got home and saw it on PC, tried to fix it but just ended up making it worse.
I kinda like the shallow DOF but I guess it would work deeper as well
Aperture was at 2.8
Well F2.8 explains it. For a shot like this I would be looking at something around F14.
Cropping quite a bit closer to the sharper focused centre might be worth trying.
