Black-tailed Prariedog
This Black-tailed Prairie Dog photo was taken near Boulder, Colorado. Photographing a tan animal on relatively bare soil was a challenge. I did want to get the eyes in focus and show the claws that these little rodents use to dig their burrows. Before settlement of the America west there were probably tens of hundreds of millions of these animals. Today their numbers are greatly reduced.
I took this photo in the early morning light. C&C appreciated.

Nice shot Chuck, these little guys can be quick if they don't want to be seen. You did well managing to get him to stand out in his natural habitat. Nice and sharp too.

Great capture Chuck. All that you describe that was accomplished. Nice little critter, wish we had them here in Florida.

Re: Black-tailed Prariedog
Thanks to all for the comments. I will be back in Colorado next week. If the weather is decent I will try to get some additional photos of these critters. They are shy, but I am old an patient. Guess that gives me a chance.
