Now that winters over (not that there really was a winter),
this was our biggest snowfall, Halloween.

Nice image, would have looked even better with more of the red that was cropped out of the right side.

I think that's a super composition.

One thing I wondered was whether turning down the vibrancy of the colour on those foreground leaves would add or detract? Do they drag our eyes up to them and take attention from the winter scene behind?

Donald, I understand what you are saying. I did pump up the leaf colors some because I liked the contrast of the colors framing the dreary background. Plus to show the leaves still on the trees against the heavy snowfall. The electric company people really loved that snow.
