Hi Steve,

I like No.1 a lot, well up to your usual innovative style that turns something we know into art.

No.2 is, to my untrained eye, just a shot of a field of flowers, of which some are poppies (I wish I didn't always mis-type that word and have to correct it).

I like to think I can identify a decent composition in most photographs, but faced with a field of flowers, I usually never bother myself because I know I can never find "a good composition" to crop to, far less take. I'm sure it's me with my "not seeing the wood for the trees" syndrome. As soon as my brain is presented with more than half a dozen 'subjects' in a random arrangement, it gives up

So to wrap up; No. 2 could be the greatest field of flowers shot of all time and I wouldn't know!

Like Dave, I like No 1 very much. It is is kind of fine art photograph that always draws my attention. No 2 is also nice a blurred background.

Dave I really did laugh out loud at this comment. As usual you are absolutely right. I knew when I took his shot that it was nondescript and that is why I tried to provide some interest in the use of the DoF. Not too successfully as it happens

Isn't there a famous painting with a similar viewpoint and content (poppies)?
What DoF did the artist use I wonder?

Perhaps we should have a field of flowers challenge
So we both get out and try harder.
