Fruit
I have started to get interested in doing some still life.
I tried to use leading lines to lead the eye through the image. I think it worked with the bananas but I gave up with the tomatoes. I tried to use the stems.
Nikon D80 18-35mm lens 66mm @f11 0.4 sec ISO 100
Nikon D80 18-35mm lens 50mm @f16 0.3 sec ISO 100
C&C welcome

Re: Fruit
The tomato shot is superb, lighting, composition, etc.
The b/w is a nice shot but not as compelling as the first one.

Re: Fruit
Not to disagree, but I think there are way too many highlights and not enough reflection. It's really hard to tell from this image as it is quite pixelated. I'd tone down the lighting by 1/2 or more on hte key, and a 1/3 less on the fill light. If it is natural lighting, then scrim the light with a bit of semi-opaque plastic or thin sheet to lower the light value. I would crop it a bit tighter to the right as well.
On the bottom image, you can enhance its compositonal appeal by giving it a slight counter-clockwise rotation and cropping out the furthermost (right side) piece of fruit.
If you will allow, I will do an edit to show you another point of view.

Re: Fruit
Both images were made on my dinning room table. Light comes from the windows facing south and through doors on the east.
I need to make up some back drop to block the light from the east.
I know nothing about lighting or even what light to buy. I bought some builders lights (that is what I call them) they are good for lighting a job but horrible for anything else
I didn't see that it was pixelated but that was possibly due to my technique in making the image smaller
you can do an edit if you wish
