Re: Redwing Blackbirds
Excellent shots.
#2 -would have been some shot.
Strange though, they never chase me away. I love shooting them but have yet to catch one in flight. They are sooooooo fast.

Re: Redwing Blackbirds
Thanks Bobo, Yes I was bummed about the second. Next time and hopefully some flying shots as well, they are quite quick.

Some of mine from last summer, not as close or detailed as yours but not too shabby imho.

The 2 almost in flight are the best I have ever managed.

Re: Redwing Blackbirds
Catching them in flight is tough not only because they are quick but because the tend to hang around in places where the background makes getting focussed on them while moving quite difficult. I really like that fist one, you stopped him in a great pose. Good luck on the full flight, I will be trying as well.

Re: Redwing Blackbirds
The difficulty is determining direction and their very short flight path. That is where a 7D type camera comes in handy as once we lock focus we can just keep shooting until it takes off and follow through. On my 550D that is not possible. One that writes to CF instead of SD like a 5dMKII or III which do not stop to write will do as well.
I am away atm so wont have RWBBs until end May

Great captures. I like the detail that was kept in the black breast area. Tough birds to shoot. Great set!!
