Tree in April

Some of you will recall that, here, a few weeks ago, I posted this ......................



....... and wrote about how I wanted to try and make a colour image once it started to come into leaf.

Well, with the mild winter we've had everything is starting to burst into life earlier than usual. I managed to get a bit of time this afternoon.

It's not yet at its best, but I'm not going to be here next week when I think it will be. And this isn't the ideal sky for the backdrop, but it wasn't too bad. I still don't know what species of tree it is.

Your thoughts are always welcome.

Despite the overall mildness, we actually seemed to have our winter last week. in mid-March we got to 24 degrees centigrade. Last week it was 2 degrees and we got more snow that we'd had all year. Weird!

Yes, but only after a colour consultation with her good self to make sure that my colour-blindness doesn't result in any weird aberrations. The problem is that is also then considered to be an opportunity to provide me with some basic instruction on composition, exposure, sharpening, etc, etc. GRRRRR!

Re the location - Yes I did take careful note when I did the first image (B & W) of exactly where I was standing, in the knowledge that taking that one in March was in readiness for taking this one. So, I knew i would be coming back to try and get the exact same spot. There is an old fence behind me and I lined myself up against one of the fence posts. Also the background helped me get the right 'line-of-sight'

Ooooooooh...I wish my 'his good self' was that interested and it beats the hell out of 'nice' . Relish the moment.

I love the tree...no idea what it is but as Frank says..great job on matching up the spot

Beautiful image Donald. I do like the color, but the B&W still draws me in more, but then again I am a sucker for B&W.

The lighting is too flat.
The tree should not be so "centered".
Too much sky above the subject.
Sky lacking "figure".
