Cotton Tree II
Cotton Tree again.
These were blooming with orange coloured flowers instead of the usual red. Seems like the only place in the whole of HK to have these "mutants".
ISO 1600 - yes light was pretty poor.

Re: Cotton Tree II
Hey Bobo - I really like the colour version better. It almost looks like selective colour, (I know it's not), but the rest of the image is so pale, that the orange really pops - but not outrageously. It reminds me very much of an Asian painting. I really like it!

Re: Cotton Tree II
Thanks Andrew.
Yes, was going for the Asian painting look but did not quite find an isolated enough branch or tree. I know where to get some so will try and get there before the flowering period is over.

Re: Cotton Tree II
Interesting composition with the flowers looking away from us. I like it and the B&W for me.

Re: Cotton Tree II
Thanks Paul.
These are very tall trees and the first branches are usually at least 20 feet up. So no option but shoot from below. I know of one place where there are 3 of these growing close together and right up against an 8 floor high car park building. Went there a week or so ago only to find the entire building under renovation and clad in anti-dust sheeting.
Will have to wait until my trip next year to get at that location. Usually the flowers are gone by end March but they bloomed late this year. Hopefully the trend will continue into next year.
