Thanks guys, I have processed it, but it was good to show you the original so you can see it un-cropped and you will notice a glare spot on the lens from the brightness of the strike. The rail and break water give it a distance perspective also. Thats not a man thank God, its a pole. The processed shot is on my web site. Christo you have some amazing shots, keep them coming. Bobo, this is a game of patience, persistence and anti social behaviour. The best man at those 3 things will win the game. Here we have weather radars which helps.

Thanks Wayne, we're going into our winter, so no thunderstorms at the moment. I had a look at your site, some great shots!

    From tonight.

The only shot with the clouds out the way. Many shots but those clouds were acting like giant diffusers and killed everything.

The colour casts were terrible too so instead of trying to fix, converted it to black and white.

    Re: Lightning

Apologies for digging up this old thread.

Apparently there is an alternative to expensive triggers.

Magic Lantern which is a 3rd party firmware enhancement for Canon 5D series, and T series (T2i/550D etc) has a feature called Motion Detection by Exposure that someone has tried on lightning with reasonable results.

Thought that I should mention this here to keep everything in one place.
