    Woodie Love

So this post is not about the image quality but about seeing really cool stuff in nature and doing the best you can.

Wood Duck courtship in the creek in my backyard. Low-light was a killer, but did the best I could.

Great series given the conditions and messy background.

The flight probably took you by surprise eh?

You got that right on the flight! I was somewhat locked down on tripod and she took off--I just pointed and fired a burst in her general direction and that's the best I was able to get! Good one for the story, but not for IQ...

    Thanks!

Sean I am suprised you got so close to woodies, when I try to photograph them I just get distant blurs as they hide. I consider you very fortunate to be able to witness them. I hope you have more oppurtunities to improve the view of such a wary subject thanks for sharing look forward to more.

Woodies are tough in the best of conditions, I think you did quite well. To get close can be a trick although the fact that hormones were involved likely helped a little there. However to find woodies mating is what was the hardest part as they are secretive. Some of my favorite duck, thanks for posting the series.
