With that first shot in particular, I can actually 'feel the movement' and my head starts to turn with the roundabout.![]()
Thank you for your comment Geoff.
Interestingly, you are not the first one to tell me that, yet I keep thinking the second one has more of a sense of motion?
Hmmmmm.
I can see and feel exactly what Geoff has alluded to. It is quite an amazing impact - just try sitting very still and stare into the image.
However, I feel the second one has more dynamism, particularly because you also have movement in her legs. It's more of an action shot and the contrast between the peeling paint on the roundabout and the darker background works, I think, superbly well.
Excellent work.
Terrific shots, Brian. The contrasty look of the second makes it really stand out. I see what Donald means about her legs; more implied action.
Thanks Donald and Myra. I was afraid I had overdone the processing of the second which is what I usually do when trying something new![]()
Thank you Donald.
I always appreciate your comments.
Makes me "feel the spin" and almost makes me dizzy! I spent many a fun day as a child on of those. I like the second shot best. Really an outstanding shot! The darkened edges really adds to the isolation and the spin.
Thanks Darlene![]()
I'm getting dizzy, can we stop now? :-)
Hi Brian,
Yes I really like the first one; that shutter speed of 1/50s, at 17mm and the speed you were spinning was 'just right'. The f/16 gives great DoF too.
The second does convey greater motion; with your daughter's legs blurred, but I'd rather see it conventionally processed with a brighter face and all.
Good captures,
Dave, I never thought of lightening her face. Hmmm. I may have to give that a try![]()
I really like these photos.Very unique idea
Thank you Mark![]()
Hi Brian
I think the idea of the merry-go-round was excellent. Well, I think that you usually are very creative for your pictures. Nice images you got. The first one really makes my mind turn around. I like it very much.
For the second, I'd like to see it not so dark and with more vivid / warm colors. But that's just me. It is a nice image already, as others have already mentioned.
Fun fact. My wife has a pair of shoes just like your daughter's hahaha.

Thanks Tono, I understand what you are saying about the second pic, and it is indeed a matter of taste. I like when people use the word 'creative' when commenting on my photos, this is a goal of mine.
