Not true. Well it's true that I had to delete lots of yours ... but unfortunately, I still lost

Must be about time I retired!

Yah I meant to say that I dont think contest winners should be allowed multiple place wins...

award them the highest spot they get, even if its a tie and then DQ them from winning another spot for that month...

    just an idea.

    Hi Kevin,

As the contest stands, it's not the "person" that wins, it's the "image" (we vote for images, not for people). I suggested a change to voting for people, but (off memory) I was the only person voting for it, and the notion was soundly defeated in favour of leaving it the way it was.

Keeping in mind also, that if winning is important to you then be very cautious about submitting multiple entries because if they're all of a similar standard then all that'll happen is they'll split the voting (I had an occasion when I entered 3 or 4 - collectively got more votes than anyone else by a big margin - but still didn't win) - so I tend to think that if somebody does enter a number of images - and those images win more than one place - then they've earned it

At the end of the day though, it's just a competition to encourage people to get out and shoot - and to give us more to discuss; I don't think anyone takes it too seriously (although keep in mind that a win here, plus $5 gets you a ride on the bus) (although I believe that $5 gets you a ride anyway!).

well depending on where that bus went,,,it might be a good deal...
I think you misunderstood where I am coming from...I think with 3 different winners it would acknowledge 3 different people...I dont know if the same person has ever won all 3 spots in the same month, but that would be kind of lame...dont you think?

Nobody has ever picked up all 3 top spots (although I have tried me best)

I hear what your saying - but at the end of the day, it would just mean that the voters thought that these were the three best images; the fact that they happened to belong to just one person really doesn't enter into it because it's not the people that the voters are voting for.

Looking at it from another angle, some may well take the position of "what's the point of me voting for an image if it's likely to be ignored, and another image (that got less votes) given the place instead" ... I think that would make a bit of a mockery of the whole contest.

As I say, I hear what your saying - if you feel strongly about it, create a poll and we'll let the masses vote on it - I'm easy either way
