    A curious lens adaptor - any ideas?

    Hello,

    Recently took delivery of a used 50mm Nikon AF-mount macro lens.

    Instead of a cap, this was on the back:

    The thread measures 15mm and does look metric. But what equipment does it mate with?

    Maybe a webcam? Used for astrophotography perhaps?
    It is possible to modify some webcams for long exposure.
