Old Man Emu
I took this shot at the Healesville sanctuary on the outskirts of Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. I don't think this guy was all that pleased to see me and I'm glad I was behind the fence when he came bounding over.
The great thing about this location is it's proximity to the Yarra Valley wineries !

I think you are right about the fence Dave, a relative once had an Emu farm. The can be rather unfriendly. I imagine those feet could do serious damage.

Good capture Dave, with just the right amount of movement blur on the left leg.
The neck looks 'retracted', that probably means something ...
I'm not sure you need quite so much space on the right though and especailly if cropped, I'd have done something with that black stone and step in background to soften it, given the DoF of the small sensor.
Hope that helps,

Re: Old Man Emu
Thanks for your comments Paul and Dave. Dave small sensors can have some benefits sometimes (well they can be more foregiving shall we say !) but I think you are right in saying a shallower DOF would have worked better with this shot.
