Had about 2 hours Saturday before the rain to do some exploring around our cabin in the Appalachian foothills. Scenes in the forest are so densely packed with so little separation, that I find it very challenging to compose images that translate well. Any comments appreciated. Are better seen in LyteBox.

Hi Kevin. I think you've captured very well what you saw in your exploring. Judicious use of shutter speed, in particular, in addition to paying attention to the other technical settings and composition makes this a pleasing set of images to view. Thank you for posting!

For me, the third image is the stand-out. I think it has the strongest compostion and the most interest. Processing is spot on IMO too. Very nice.

I was fearful images one and three looked a little "overcooked HDR", though it wasnt shot that way. Processed in LR4, mostly bringing up exposure in shadows
