Warning: Not my norm
The busy season has begun for me at work, so I have had little time to get out. The last couple days I have tried to make use of my customers flowers when I see something interesting. Here is the first of those days. One of these days I will break down and buy a Macro. These were all shot with my 400mm. C&C always welcome.

I love the sharpness, color, and uniqueness of the fiddlehead image, Paul. Well done!

if this is not your 'Norm' Paul, I reckon you need to do more! These are a fine set of images. 2+3 especially. Images that feature water drops or that show plants developing are always interesting. I don't think you need to worry about a macro lens!
Cheers for now

Yep, I'll have some more of what's not your norm as well.
I think these are beautifully put together images and that last one in particular, for me, is entrancing. You can look at it for ages and keep seeing new things - lines, shapes, tones. Wonderful.

Paul, I am with everyone else, very good images. My favorite is the first. 400mm? Did you set up on a tripod?

Re: Warning: Not my norm
I like the first photo the best, but all three are good shots. I was actually looking at replacing my hanging fuchsia baskets yesterday... but decided not to, as those darned plants are too fragile for my gardening skills.
Have you ever considered extension tubes instead of a macro lens? I just got a set of Kenko tubes specifically made for my Nikon. They're amazing... they let you focus a whole lot closer which, in turn, let's you fill the frame and gives the feel of a macro lens. I paid $180.00 for the set of three tubes. A true macro (a good one) might set you back $500.00 or so. Anyway, just something to consider.

These are nice. I like how the hearts turn and fade away in #1, and I wish I was small enough to take a nap in the little spot just to the right of the fiddle head twist.

Re: Warning: Not my norm
Thanks for such a great response everyone. I have never shot many flowers and find they make me think quite a bit on how to get a descent comp. Especially the fern, that is a difficult plant to shoot. I am quite pleased with that shot myself and also pleased you guys find it interesting as well.
Yes Darren I have given tubes some thought and will give it a little more thought. It would be nice to be able to move in a little closer.
Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts.
Ryo, these were handheld. However yesterday I did use a tripod for some more flower shots. I posted those this morning in a new thread.
