Hello from Scotland!
Hello! My name's Ciorstaidh and I've been lurking around this site for some time now after being recommended it by my father. I've been taking photographs since my age was in single figures but I'm only just now doing something with it with help from my dad. He's the one who has bought me my Sony A230 and I've recently been handed down his A55 when he got his new camera.
So greetings from me!

Re: Hello from Scotland!
Always delighted to see another Scot joining in. Welcome, Ciorstaidh.
I get the impression that you're maybe not too many years away from when your age was in single figures. If that is so, then a particular welcome to you.
Given that you've been lurking on the site for some time, you'll have a good idea about how it works. So, please do get right in there with your questions, contributions and, of course, images for competition and/or comment & criticism

Thanks for the welcome! It's nice to have somewhere with various help topics and tutorials in one place.
Just over a decade since I was in single figures so long enough to figure out what's what in terms of photography!

Hi Ciorstaidh,
Now there's an interesting name I had never seen before.
What subjects do you prefer to shoot with the A55 or A230?

Re: Hello from Scotland!
Hiya Dave,
My name seems to get a lot of attention down here. I was born in Stornoway, hence the Gaelic name but it's nice to have something different!
With the A230 I wasn't shooting anything in particular. Just general photographs. However, I started to get more into pet photography and the 2.5fps from the A230 was not enough for the shots I wanted. When my father got his new camera I jumped at the chance of getting his A55 as it can do up to 10fps. I've yet to try it out though and have only tested out some aspects of it at my local country park.
Seeing as I only have a standard 18-55mm lens and 75-300mm telephoto, I can only take a fraction of what I want to. Next lenses on the list are a macro and possibly a wide angle. Just need to wait and see what the future brings with those though!
Thank you for the welcome!
