Crow Hassan Park Reserve is nearby example of restored tallgrass prairie which I will visit on a regular basis throughout the year to continue to document the forbs. At one time, Tallgrass prairie blanketed the interior of North America, providing fodder for bison, elk, and in turn buffalo wolves. The soils protected by these vast grasslands are the basis for much of the agriculture which puts food on our tables. The biomass produced by this ecology is arguably the greatest on earth. Sadly, less than 1% remain in pristine condition.
But, enough of the preaching! On with the show.
