Re: not turned a wheel in ages
mmmm not keen on this one Paul but is hard to understand why.....I think i like it in the abstract but my eye wonders about without finding a focus, maybe its a little busy. think its a little flat as well , sorry . on the good side i like the depth of field removing the background. or maybe its a dirt windscreen...

I like it Paul; especially the vignetting.

Re: not turned a wheel in ages
Hi Paul. This is an interesting subject so I can see why you wanted to capture it. I think the thing that throws me is that it is all equally both bland and busy so there isn't a focal point for my eye to start from or rest at.
I rarely comment on B&W images as I have no skill in the B&W nuances, but the image appears to me to be lacking contrast. I may be way off base here, but what if the contrast of just the steering wheel were to be boosted a bit? Hope this helps!

Re: not turned a wheel in ages
If you have access to the vehicle again maybe try shooting so the steering wheel is not across the middle of the speedometer; a higher angle of view maybe you will have to try different angles. Also tighter to the steering wheel and instruments as this is my main area of interest. As well; artful removal of the mirror from the dashboard so it is out of the frame will help with the overall composition
