Spring has sprung on the lake

Stopped in at one of my regular haunts after work, catching the evening light. The colors of mid spring really set the scene apart from the norm. It was a nice break from my busy days of late. Really just sharing but any C&C is most welcome. Warning...pic heavy.....well a little.





Not often the Wood Ducks colors serve as Cammo.


Splitz


Gadwall....one of the dullest colored ducks although one of the most intricate patterns. The great light falling on her allowed me to capture that detail.


Jumping Carp, they come into the bay to lay eggs. The males jump, bigger the splash the more attractive.....surprise surprise...lol


Can't forget the Beaver...one of 4 I saw that night.

Thanks guys, I usually hit this spot in the morning and this time being in the evening it was a whole different area. I like the mornings but I need to do more evening visits.

Lovely set Paul.

Re the Carp jumping. Hang around a bit longer, packs of males will chase the females around all hoping to be next to her when she lays her eggs, it can all be quite a spectacular sight (and sound) thrashing the water to a foam. If you fancy getting wet you can stand in the water and have them swimming through your legs. If you slap your hand on the water a few times they sometimes come and investigate.

Typically, they are never so easy to find in the fishing season!

I've heard complaints about digital photography being to brilliant in color, now I see the reasoning, images are sparkling and warm.

John, I agree they can be a bit on the brilliant side. It is tough though, when you get great warm evening light such as here....they can look a bit over the top even when they are a fairly good record of the actual scene.

Dave, the title just seemed to fit the day. New life was bursting out everywhere. Glad my feeling of the set came across the way it was intended.

You know you have had a good day when you get 7 people all preferring 7 different pictures. Go back again tomorrow and you can release a calendar for this wetland, I'll buy the first one. I too love to shoot in the first light but these colours are brilliant and can only be seen at last light. The Wood Duck is glowing. Well done again Paul.

Not complaining or criticizing your selection, the original commenter said it as a complaint, I take the opportunity for brilliant colors as an advantage.
