I do think B & Ws can still work well for sports action (although it's very rare these days). I think it does help focus attention on the action.

Great action shots! Agree with Donald that the b&W is effective for sports. Your crops are perfect. I'm hoping to have the opportunity to shoot some boys' lacrosse this summer as that would be a new challenge.
