This is a B-dSLR (before I buy my first dSLR) picture of mine taken in Lisbon. My 6 MP powershot camera was malfunctioned at that time. I like this one however because of the "gesture" of the bird and I wished I had a better camera with me for a more sharp capture.




(actually I am not sure if a peacock can be considered a pet )

Hi Miltos,

Has some PP effect been overlaid on, or done to, this?
I ask because it looks sort of 'textured'.

The pose and composition is good, although it seems to be standing in an alcove, or recess, in a wall, which isn't where you normally see a peacock.

The two odd things together combine to make a 'different' image.

The bird is standing in a alcove, that's exactly what intrigued me with that bird. I think it was sleeping or resting when I arrived and then it started grooming its feathers. It is positioned above me and that 's why you cannot see the feet. I had to get on a chair to capture the shot.

The colours have been indeed intensified in photoshop in LAB mode. As I mentioned the capture was originally problematic with high noise as the bird was poorly lighten and I didn't have a decent camera with me. I couldn't reduce the noise, probably because of my poor photoshop skills. I think the sharpening has increased the noise introducing the texturing you mentioned. I will come back with a new processing in the weekend then hoping for a better result.

So I am back with my shy peacock. Less sharpening this time as suggested.



Not much of a difference I have to admit. The image is of prety low resolution and capable of limited editing. I still like it though.

Miltos, This would look great printed on canvas.
I would have it on my wall, fantastic colours.

Although the colours have been boosted in PP to compensate for my low bugdet camera capabilities, these birds really shine in colour under the sunlight.

Where I live is Launceston Tasmania we have a place called the Cataract Gorge. Look it up on google.
It's full of peacocks. They are a very colourful bird and I often come across them in the suburbs surrounding the gorge when I am at work.
I try to shoo them off the road. Seriously, they are as dumb as bricks when it comes to cars
