Recently I posted images of Wood Storks telling how in the 1930's there were over 20,000 nesting pairs and today there are only about 5,500. These birds are found in the southeastern part of the country. They are declining because of loss of habitat needed for breeding. This past week my wife and I drove to Merrit Island National Refuge, more particular Black Point Wildlife Drive. The dominant birds we saw and photographed were Wood Storks and Black-necked Stilts.
