My visitor from Cinco De Mayo visitor

Had this guy come and visit me in my back yard on Cinco de Mayo. No post processing done, this is how it came out of the camera. Still not happy with the auto focus on my camera as this appears to have come out a little soft.

Kris, it appears that you focused on the snakes nose area, as that area seems to be
quite sharp (in focus) to me. You don't mention the lens used, or the EXIF for the
shot, but I'm guessing you used a wide open aperture for a very shallow DOF?

After looking at the set again, this one might be the better of the two as far as focus being closer to the eye.

I bet the AF locked onto that nice contrasty wire tie around the tube, it is lovely and sharp

    Good capture Kris.

You wouldn't want to find it by touch (if not looking where you put your hand, would you?)

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
He's not a bad guy. Four and a half foot bull snake and they are great for killing rodents and even have some bugs that are in their diet. If they are agitated, they will strike and if they get a piece of bare skin will draw blood but other than that they are essentially harmless. This fellow comes to visit our fence about twice a week but now that the temperatures are starting to go from warm to stifling hot he will more than likely make his retreat to the barn and hang out there during the day and go on the prowl at night.

Kris - Are you shooting in RAW? If you are and you're presenting this with no post-processing, then it will be a soft.

It was shot in auto. I had it set in auto because I had been taking pics of cars for the dealership that I work for to put on the web site and just didn't take it off of the auto mode.
