    Another NW sunset

I have been lucky enough to have spent a while in NW Scotland again. Apart from one day, when near to here had close to 120% of the rainfall for the month of May in 24 hours, there was a lot of sunshine and some good sunsets.

For those who know this hill it needs no introduction. For those who don't, it is called Slioch (Gaelic for "the Spear") and is on the shore of Loch Maree, about 50 miles west of Inverness.

Unfortunately the photo does not do justice to the mountain which is a very imposing peak.

    All comments welcomed.

Hi dave, 1st off what a beautiful place. I have never been, but it looks stunning, I could sit for hours on that rock to the right of the water, just taking in the scenery.
2nd for me the image does do the place justice, you have captured a stunning image.
For me you have got it just right.
    Thanks for sharing

    Hi Dave,
I agree, I think you have things spot on with this picture.
For my sins, I must confess to never having visited Scotland. As my knowledge of Photography grows (slowly I might add) this is a place I must visit and Photograph. Just hope that when I do, I can get somewhere near to your standard.
    Well done.

Many thanks for the comments, all.

Although composition and exposure come into every photo, with landscapes there is also a fair bit of luck involved. Sometimes the time of day, light and weather provide you with a gem and if all goes well I sometimes get a half way decent shot, but I throw away an awful lot of the shots and feel annoyed with myself that I was presented with a great scene and didn't get it right.

In the above shot I'm not sure about the line of rock in the middle distance. I think is almost chops the photo in two - foreground rocks with the pool and the mountain in the background. However, that is all down to me as I committed the cardinal sin of landscape photography (and particularly of sunsets/sunrises) by not allowing enough time to get where I really wanted to be. Next time ....

    Thanks

    Dave
