Young grey squirrel
My eagle eyed daughter spotted this little fellow in the undergrowth when we were out walking yesterday. This is cut out of the best shot I got as he scampered back up the tree to home and safety.

Re: Young grey squirrel
Hi Keith,
That's a nice capture of probably not something easy to get.
Tell your daughter, well done.
Cheers Greg

Re: Young grey squirrel
Thanks Greg,
This little guy was not much more that 12 inches from head to tail and on the ground blended perfectly with the leaf litter. Getting a bead on him was easy but he was faster than the AI Servo focus. Luckily he stopped for a breather just about eye height and only about 10 ft away. I was using the Sport setting in the camera and the 75-300 lens so it was a good job there was bright sunlight lighting him. It was right place, right time, right setting and facing the right direction.

Amazing! you must have been meant to get the shot.

Re: Young grey squirrel
Pretty good capture Keith,
Better than many of mine for the reasons you state
Personally, I'd clone out the bright sticks behind though.
Cheers,

Re: Young grey squirrel
Thanks Dave,
As you suggested I had a try at cloning out the bright sticks but found the background a little too complex for my level of expertise with PS to do it without making a complete hash of it.
(I did try waiting for the little guy to go a bit higher and clear of ground clutter but he got camera shy and went around the back of the tree. Better luck next time perhaps.)
