California International Pro Cycling - 8 stages

First picture shows the main group about 1 1/2 minute behind the break away
Second picture shows the 9 bikers ahead of the big group before they got to the mountains.
Third picture shows Robert Geesink of the Netherlands, the guy on the right and dressed in Orange/Blue, who won the mountain climb and the 8 days Amgen Pro Race.
These pictures are from stage 7, a difficult mountain race to Big Bear.

Ronny - Do you think that tighter crops on the riders would focus more attention on them? There is a lot of 'extraneous' information in each of the images that takes our attention of what I think we're meant to be looking at.

If you do want wider shots that show the action set in the location in which it takes place, then i think you have to do a lot of planning to get the 'correct' backdrop. What you have as your backdrop in these are very 'busy' scenes with lots of different lines, shapes, tones.

For me, these shots are taking too much in with so much going on. I'm with Donald. Less is more for this sort of scene. Having said that its depends on what your setting out to capture.

I thought all Canon cameras displayed distance to subject in the metadata? Is that function for specific models only?

Regarding the race photos, nicely exposed, very sharp images. You were in a very good position to capture detail, any shots from the side so that motion is captured?

I understand what you are saying, but the people in this downtown little shopping center have choosen those 3 pictures for their small news paper. They wanted the bike race and the people of this small town and everything around it.
