Nice little series Joe. I think my favorite is between #2 and 3. I like #2 for the content and the fact that she has tail spread and is looking back, but you did a great job capturing her in flight as well. Not an easy feat.
Hi Joe,
Good series, if anything I prefer the last because seeing the different species together semms (to me) unusual.
That said, I can appreciate the feeling of joy you probably got when you saw how sharp #3 was
Well done,
Thanks Dave, as you wrote it is unusual to see different species together and to have a male and female of both species, very unusual. I feel very fortunate to have been there and to have captured the image. As to the feeling of joy upon seeing how sharp the image of the female in flight was, in a word...overjoyed. It was a bird perched on a shrub that one knew was going to take flight. The flight happens so fast that I could only whirl with the bird and fire off a few frames hoping the shutter speed and auto-focus would do it's job. To me one of the great joys of nature photography is remembering the circumstances of a particular image when viewed again after it was shot, sometimes months or years later but the memory still lingers.
Nice shots overall.
#3 very well done.
I like #4 quite a bit, looks almost like a painting.
Number 4 looks like a section of 18th century hand painted Chinese wallpaper brought to life. You could imagine it being reproduced and hung as a wall covering.
The blackbirds are so very different from our British variety.

Joe, all really nice photos. I like number 2 the best. Number 3 is also a beautiful shot. The clarity of both of these images is outstanding. - chuck
As others have said, they are all fine shots, but, I too am a big fan of #2
due to the sharpness and quality of the composition. Well done!
Hi Joe,
Good shots especially #3, difficult to get good crisp clear images of birds in flight.
Very well done. Best Wishes, Pat
