How can architects build a new world of sustainable beauty?
They can't. Architects can only build what their clients want and will allow at any time. The beauty or otherwise of their efforts is determined by society at large. Sustainability is something else as by it's very nature all construction is transient, some more so than others. Age often adds a beauty to constructions that wasn't seen when new. No doubt people thought wooden windmills were blots on the landscape when they were new, much as many of us think these modern variety are; perhaps in time age and wear and tear will confere beauty on these too. Hadrian's Wall would have been an eyesore and a nuisance when built but it really does enhance the landscape now, 1850 years later. Would the Parthenon have looked so beautiful if the explosion of the Turkish arsenal hadn't rendered it a magnificent ruin? Capability Brown changed our landscape to make some beautiful vistas but not everyone liked his work when he did it. Mind you, this is just a personal opinion.
I was wondering how someone would respond to this post.
Fascinating, but why is this in the Nature and Architecture PHOTO forum?
Was wondering the same...
But in response to the poster - yes they can in a way.
Under construction atm.
