Intrepid Shuttle traveling down the Hudson today
Captured both of these at the last minute today as the Enterprise space shuttle was being taken down the Hudson.
I only found out this was happening about 5 minutes prior to these shots being taken so didn't have much time to think out my composition (I was literally running parallel down the river to get the best view).
Regardless, I'm thankful to have the opportunity to capture such a unique sight!
Any feedback or constructive criticism would be very much appreciated.

Yep, seeing them okay now.
I'd make one suggestion in respect of both them. Crop.
Clearly you want to have more than just an image of the shuttle. You want images that show the context; i.e. the place in which this is happening. But I wonder if we need quite so much space (excuse the pun) around them. For example, I'm not sure we need so much water at the bottom and sky at the top in the first one. And, in the second one, I saw it as a 1:1 (square) with the left edge just to the right of that foreground tree, which I think is a major distraction.
Something to think about.

Thanks Donald.
Good call on the cropping... I did crop them both a bit but I definitely see how tightening it up a bit would improve the overall composition and minimize distractions. I'll modify them when I get home and post the results.
Thanks again!

Re: Intrepid Shuttle traveling down the Hudson today
Hey Aaron,
The first image is a bit too blue for my eye. Perhaps adjust the white balance a bit in raw. but then again that could be poor calibration of my monitor. I have also never been on the waterfront in Jersey City so it could be the water reflecting off the windows. I would also dodge some the highlights on the shuttle to help separate the shuttle from the background. I like the composition of both but agree with Donald about doing a 1:1 crop. it just SCREAMS square crop. Were you using an iris blur on these?
What time did this happen at? was also shooting on the waterfront today.

Re: Intrepid Shuttle traveling down the Hudson today
Jason,
Thanks for the feedback.
Here are the cropped versions. Took the post production down a notch on the first one because I see what you're saying about the blue. I tried dodging some of the highlights on the shuttle but wasn't at all happy with the result (I dont have much experience with that technique).
Oh and this was a little after 11am today.

Hi Aaron,
To make the most of these, you really need to downsize and sharpen them before uploading.
Have a read of this post starting from "Here is a recommended method ..."
You uploaded at 100% after cropping and if viewed at 100%, they look soft.
Viewing at 100% also means they overflow most people's 1050px or 1080px tall LCD screens.
If you let the browser resize to display the full image, it still isn't as sharp as it could be.
At step 2e, set the height to be say 850px (allows for browser banners, etc.) or 1000px absolute maximum, but this relies on viewers hitting F11 key to full screen their browser.
Well done for making the effort to capture the occasion though.
Is/was it being taken to the same place that has a Concorde?
Cheers,

Re: Intrepid Shuttle traveling down the Hudson today
Dave,
Thanks for the info on downsizing and sharpening - what a difference!
I also spent a bit more time on them in photoshop.
With regards to the shuttle, I was mistaken, it's actually the Enterprise and it is traveling to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (which I do believe has a Concorde).
Thanks again!

Different and much better images, now that you've done this work on them. Good stuff and an important historical record.
