    Could have been a very nice shot but using the flash sort of killed it for me.

    Try not using the flash and controlling the light in a way as to give you good colour and contrasts. This flower has tremendous potential for a great shot. Just practice and you will get it.

    I hope you don't mind that I did a quick edit of your image.

    As bobo already mentioned a more controlled lighting would help to get a much better picture. Your original picture has also more potential that shows up after a little bit postprocessing. I just added a little bit contrast, reduced saturation and increased brightness using GIMP.
