    Red Breasted Sapsucker

Stopped in at one of my spots today to find a pair of these guys gathering food for their young. The trees were full of fresh holes in the bark, sap dripping all over. The bugs were no doubt attracted to the sweet sap although got caught in it for the birds return trip.

This little Downy Woodpecker sat in a tree and waited for the larger Sapsucker to leave....then swooped in and gathered a quik lunch on the Saps hard work and left quickly.

Great shots Paul, the bird looks akin to a woodpecker, I,m drawn to #3 the ladybird in the beak and the sap flowing,
    Best Wishes Pat

Thanks Bobo, he was checking me out pretty good right then.

Thanks Dave, the light was either a tad harsh or shadowed but I made the best of it I think. I was just happy to get them feeding so heavily.
