Zoom function using camera modules with a viewer?

How does one get camera modules to do digital zoom using a viewer like AMCap?
Amcap seems to work with some modules but not all. Works on some computers but not all.
I wish to use a viewer and digital zoom function.

I think this question will be better placed on a computer forum than here.

I suggest that because I think you are asking about little camera modules as used in mobile devices and laptops as web cams, etc.
