Colin my point was in relation to Ian's requirement :

My assumption was that he wanted to transfer photos to the IPAD or EePad and then to a HDD. Hence my querie on whether he could transfer the photos to a HDD after loading them to an IPad.

    Thanks for the extra info.

Blimey, that pretty much makes the iPad a no-go for me, then... thanks for that info, Colin...! Yes, that's exactly what I want to do, Dave...

The ASUS certainly does allow this, including RAW files, although it cannot display RAW without an Application.

Thanks everyone . I already made up my mind on Ipad .
I have bought the CF , USB and 5 in 1 adapters that plug into Ipad . When I decide on something , I buy the extras 1st , no sense in / on paying premium because I waited .
I did not know they lowered the mili-amps out thou .

Hi Roy, if you have the iPad, you may be interested in being able to wirelessly transfer your camera to the Ipad with the $40 Eye-Fi Connect X2 card (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B003DV4234).

There is a video showing how to do this and the results at http://fstoppers.com/how-to-tether-y...t-jailbreaking.

If I understand the technology right (I don't own an iPad to test with) once you have the images on the iPad, you can then sync them up to the iCloud and then down to your PC for backup.

I have one of the Eye-Fi cards and while it's clever and handy at times the setup is a PITA and probably the worst written bit of software I've ever used. Frankly I gave up and just bung the card into a camera connection kit and do it that way - faster even with the extra plugging etc.
