Just a little something found on the beach in Iceland
This is a little something that a local photographer in Iceland showed us how to find on a recent trip this past May. It is a US Navy DS3 that crashed on the beach, it ran out of fuel, because of bad weather they could not land, as they were low on fuel they switched to another tank, that one was empty, so they put down on the beach no one was hurt at the time. The local farmers were very happy for sometime as they drained the tanks of fuel, it seems that they had switched to a tank that they had already drained, they still had a full tank.
Cheers:

Cool image Allan. I like the composition here. The sky really helps draw you in.

The sky is a perfect compliment for this photo. Gives it a real sense of loss and desolation.

This is one that has to be viewed at the larger size in the lightbox. Super bit of work. Captures wonderful mood and atmosphere. Dramatic lighting and a strong composition make for a powerful image.

As Donald said, its a very powerful image. I love the shades of greys in it. Nice muted tones.
