Buying a DSLR

Not been here long myself. It is a great community though! you want to buy a camera? what sort of budget are you looking at?

My first DSLR was a canon 20D I bought second hand on ebay. I spent a while looking and evaluating what a good price was but it was a great camera to start with!

Also, its true to say that its not the camera that matters, its what you do with it. The more you get into photography, the more you realize that that is the case. Its very easy to convince yourself that Very expensive equipment makes for Great photos! Sadly, I wish it were true, but its not

You will. There are some incredibly knowledgible people on the site. You can find informed and good opinions on every aspect of photography and cameras from discussions of the physics of sensors and light to how take a picture of your cat.

They even tolerate lurkers and rare posters like myself.
